Giving Back: How We Build a Stronger South Shore Together
A guide to the local charities making a difference in Hingham and beyond.
At the Eisnor Team, we often say that we don’t just sell houses; we help build communities. And while finding the perfect home is a huge part of that, true community is built by the people who live there and how they support one another.
Living on the South Shore is a privilege. From the coastline of Scituate to the historic streets of Hingham, we are surrounded by beauty. But even in our wonderful towns, there are neighbors who need a helping hand. As local experts who live and work here, we believe it is our responsibility to shine a light on the incredible organizations working tirelessly to make the South Shore a better place for everyone.
Whether you are new to the area or a lifelong resident looking to get involved, here are a few local charities close to our hearts that are making a real impact right now.
1. Housing & Shelter
As real estate professionals, the concept of "home" is central to everything we do. These organizations ensure everyone has a safe place to sleep.
South Shore Habitat for Humanity:
Based right here in our backyard, this organization does tangible, life-changing work. They don't just build affordable homes; they build stability for families in 22 towns across the South Shore. You can support them by volunteering on a build site, donating, or shopping at their "ReStore" in Hanover (a great spot for new homeowners to find furniture and fixtures!).Learn more at: sshabitat.org
Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore:
With shelters in Hingham, Weymouth, and Norwell, this organization is on the front lines of helping families move from homelessness to independence. They provide shelter, education, and advocacy to help families get back on their feet.Learn more at: friendsofhomeless.org
2. Fighting Food Insecurity
No neighbor should go hungry. These local pantries are vital resources for our community.
Hingham Food Pantry:
A staple of Hingham’s community support system, the Food Pantry operates out of the Second Parish Church on Main Street. They are entirely volunteer-run and rely on the generosity of residents to provide non-perishable food and grocery gift cards to Hingham families in need. How to help: They often have specific "wish lists" for donations—check their updates before you shop!
The South Shore Food Bank:
Working out of Weymouth, this organization distributes food to pantries and soup kitchens across the entire region. They are tackling the root causes of hunger and ensuring that fresh, healthy food reaches the people who need it most.
3. Community Support & Family Services
The Arc of the South Shore:
Located in Hingham, The Arc is a premier provider of services for children and adults with disabilities. They empower individuals to reach their fullest potential through early intervention, employment training, and day programs. Their work enriches our entire community by ensuring everyone is included and valued.Learn more at: arcsouthshore.org
Father Bill’s & MainSpring:
A powerhouse on the South Shore, they offer emergency shelter and permanent housing solutions. Their approach goes beyond just a bed for the night—they provide the resources and support systems necessary to end homelessness for good.
How You Can Help
Real estate is about more than property values; it's about values, period. We encourage our clients and friends to pick one of these organizations to support this season. Whether it’s dropping off a bag of groceries, volunteering a Saturday morning, or making a financial donation, every bit helps strengthen the fabric of the South Shore.
Do you have a favorite local charity we missed? Let us know! We love hearing about the good work happening in our neighborhoods.
From our team to your family, thank you for making the South Shore such a wonderful place to call home.
